Introduction There are number of laws that prohibit the discrimination on the basis of gender. According to the civil rights act an employer cannot fire or refuse to hire any person in order to discriminate with that person in respect to his terms, conditions or employment because of any discriminating factor such as sex, caste, creed, national origin or religion. Legal concepts of gender discrimination can be applied in the business managerial setting by ensuring that the employee gets an equal opportunity to work and the discrimination at the workplace can be controlled. Gender discrimination in the workplace is a complex issue with a complicated history. Although gender discrimination of any kind determined by the United States Congress is considered to be unconstitutional as of 1963 and 1964 with the passage of title VII and the equal Pay Act, there have been thousands of lawsuits filed since. Ironically, the majority of the lawsuits are filed by women. This issue touches the lives of anyone currently or previously employed. Facts In the case of Ashley, she was being discriminated and faces endured harassment by male colleagues and was fired from her workplace without giving any reason. On the top of it she was being continuously discriminated and harassed on her physical attire, gestures and voice tone.
